Down With DDoS Attacks!

In the past week, Aplus.Net had two major DDoS attacks. DDoS, or Distributed Denial of Service, refers to a deliberate attack on a website, in which hackers flood a system with incoming messages. This flood of messages ultimately force the system to shut down, in turn, denying access to legitimate users. DDoS attacks are a common challenge for web hosting providers. When such an attack occurs, the entire server is affected. A DDoS attack used to take days to combat, but today's advanced technology allows web masters to contain the attack in a matter or hours. Our highly-skilled engineers were able to ward off the recent attacks in less than an hour! This response time is much better than the industry standard. The fact that Aplus.Net was able to contain the problem in under an hour is a major accomplishment; nevertheless, Aplus.Net is continuously striving to better our services, and we will keep trying to beat our own records even when already ahead of the competition.

Speedy Customer Service Now!

In our continuous efforts to improve our customer service, Aplus.Net has launched a new automated software tool, which authenticates customer calls, diagnoses problems, and integrates with the Knowledge Base – Veleka IVR. The new tool is intended for expediting customer service interactions and increasing customer service productivity. Now, when a customer calls the support line, his/her phone number will be recognized and the account will automatically be accessed. In most cases, the problem will be identified in a matter of seconds and the call will be routed to the appropriate representative. The end result is a shorter, more efficient call. The automated authentication aspect of the tool also allows for a higher level of security and lower likelihood of someone, such as a competitor, abusing your site. Currently, our customer support wait time is at a record low of 30 seconds, which is exceptionally low with respect to the industry standard. However, with this new tool, the hold time will be decreased even further and customer issues will be handled even more effectively.

New Value Server

Aplus.Net is launching a new AMD Value Server offering this month. Value Servers are excess inventory items that are offered at discounted prices. While these servers are not loaded with the latest technology and features, they are sturdy pieces of hardware, which is supported on the same level as our regular servers. The new Value Server will be $59/mo with a $59 setup fee. Features include: 120GB IDE Hard Drive and 512MB DDR400 SDRAM. Additionally, we are offering a sale price on the Value Server Pro at $99/mo versus its regular price of $129/mo.

Sneak Preview

European Union Domain Names Coming Soon!

Aplus.Net will soon be offering a new TLD (top-level domain - the suffix attached to a domain name) – .EU. .EU, which stands for European Union, has recently become available to European Union companies, EU residents, and other EU-affiliated parties. The new TLD will soon be offered to the general public, and will be available for registration through Aplus.Net.

Wiki Revolution

Wikis are a revolutionary new technology, currently being adopted by an increasing number of businesses as a means of communication and collaboration. It has become a “virtual workspace” in which employees in different locations around the world can post various documents, images, feedback, etc.  This information is then automatically tracked and updated. Wikis are open source applications, which means that they are free to use, but according to Michael Fitzgerald of Inc. Magazine, this technology “can require some technical expertise to set up and administer.” Aplus.Net recently made available two wiki products (Tiki Wiki and Media Wiki), which we host and maintain for free for all customers with a Solo XR hosting plan and above.
