2 New Control Panel Tools!

This month, Aplus.Net is introducing two new tools to the Control Panel!

-  Hotlink Prevention Tool - Restricts users’ images from being used by external websites, thereby reducing bandwidth theft.

-  IP Blocker Tool - Allows users to block specific IP addresses from accessing their sites. This is useful for blocking individuals who abuse your website.

Protect Your Online Business Identity

It is a good business practice to register all possible TLDs (.com, .net, .info, etc.) for your domain name, so that competitors do not attempt to steal your online business identity. For example, if you own your_business_name.org but not your_business_name.com, then there is a chance that competitors may buy your_business_name.com and/or other TLDs with your domain name in order to redirect traffic to their websites. Alternatively, another business may simply purchase your_business_name.com without intending to steal your identity, but ultimately this may still result in you losing traffic to the other company’s site. To prevent this from happening, register all possible TLDs and shield your online business from competition!

In order to register a .EU domain, a customer must either reside or have a business office in the EU Community. These are official requirements, independent of Aplus.Net. Paid Search – the Way to Go?

According to an Investor’s Business Daily article, by Marilyn Much (“Web Trends Drive Growth…”), paid search is becoming one of the most popular online advertising methods: “Paid search ad spending in the U.S. is expected to climb 35.3% to $4.8 billion this year.”

The purpose of paid search (also known as Pay Per Click or PPC) is to drive targeted traffic to advertisers’ websites. That is, advertisers purchase specific keywords from search engines. The advertisers’ ads are then displayed on a search results page when a search engine user types in the appropriate keywords. As a result, shoppers who are actually searching for the advertisers’ products or services are exposed to the ad. This translates into targeted traffic to the advertisers’ websites, and thus more sales.
