ValueWeb, a Hostway company, has been experiencing much longer-than-expected server outages due to complications from a server migration. The migration itself was a result of the merging of operations of two large companies into a single, presumably more organized unit.

This story serves as an illuminating footnote to Wednesday’s blog entry, which explored some of the implications of widespread merging in the web hosting marketplace. Hopefully, for the sake of customers, it’s a kink that will get ironed out as this trend continues to work its way through the industry.
