SAN DIEGO -- February 24, 2000
Aplus.Net announced that Partners can now use Rodopi billing, management and
customer care software to register domain names through www.Aplus.Net.com
for $8 per year.
Aplus.Net.com is an ICANN accredited Domain Name Registrar for .com, .net and .org domains. Aplus.Net uses Rodopi DN to run its domain registration business. Rodopi DN is a special version of Rodopi's automated provisioning and billing software for Domain Name Registrars. This DN version makes it possible for other users of the Rodopi software to seamlessly integrate with Aplus.Net for the purpose of domain name registration.
"The two-year cost to register a domain name is $16 for Rodopi Club members and $20 for non-members," said Arthur Ekroos, Vice President of Rodopi Software. "The retail price for registering a domain name for 2 years is $70. By using Aplus.Net and Rodopi Software, service providers can reap $50 to $54 per domain name. With margins like that, the software pays for itself in a very short time."
Until recently, a single company controlled registering domain names. Congress, in conjunction with the Department of Commerce, has eliminated this monopoly and opened it up to allow entities like Aplus.Net to compete. Aplus.Net, as an ICANN accredited Registrar, and Rodopi Software provide a unique solution to allow non-accredited service providers to participate in this expanding and important market.
"It's not easy to become a Registrar," Ekroos said. "It is time consuming, and there are significant associated costs. With this new offering from Aplus.Net and Rodopi, service providers can register domain names for $8 - almost the same cost as a Registrar, but without making the investments of time and money. It's an easy way to increase revenue and profits without incurring any risk."
RODOPI Software is a completely web-enabled solution. Some of RODOPI's features include on-line subscription, automated billing, bank reconciliation, customer care, e-mail to customers, on-line account management, RADIUS interface and automated provisioning on a variety of Unix and NT based servers.
Aplus.Net became an ICANN accredited Registrar shortly after the Department
of Commerce eliminated the monopoly associated with domain name registration.
Aplus.Net offers tools at its website to assist those trying to register a
domain name. These tools check for availability, trademark infringement, suggest
alternatives if necessary, makes recommendations on names close to the selected
one, etc. These services enable businesses and individuals to obtain complete
information about their domain name selection. Aplus.Net registers domain
names for clients worldwide and supports the new 63 character long domain name.
Aplus.Net is one of only a handful of US companies ICANN accredited to perform
top-level domain name registration.
