San Diego, California –November 12, 2003- Aplus.Net, a leading Internet presence provider to small and medium-sized businesses, announced today the immediate availability of anonymous domain name registration. Aplus.Net created this new service to offer customers privacy protection in the domain registration process.
Registrars are required to post all of the contact information for a domain name holder to a database known as “Whois”. Unfortunately, the Whois database is publicly accessible, so any individual can look up information about a domain name holder. Thus, the standard domain name registration process exposes personal contact information including names, phone numbers and addresses to the general public which allows telemarketers, hackers, spammers and others to invade the privacy of a domain name holder.
Aplus.Net has created a special division, DomainListingAgent.com, to process anonymous domain name registrations. It acts as an agent for the domain name holder by entering its own contact information instead of the domain name holders’ into the Whois database. Aplus.Net then forwards all communication received on behalf of the domain name holder to their private e-mail, which remains unlisted.
The benefit of anonymity will only be revoked if there is a violation of the law or Aplus.Net policies (including anti-spam policies).
