SSL certificates are supported on all Aplus packages. Customers on the eCommerce package qualify for a free RapidSSL certificate (eg. yourdomain.com). Customers on any other package can purchase their own private/vanity SSL starting at $25/year.

This is possible; however, it may be quicker for you to create a CSR and purchase a new SSL certificate. Since the SSL certificate is encrypted with the private key and server type of the previous host, it would take a long time for our servers to decode this and make appropriate alterations.

Your domain consists of WWW (http://www.domain.com) and blank (http://domain.com) record. The SSL certificate can be installed only on one of the domains thus the selection between the two.

If you wish to have a private SSL, (https://yourdomain.com), you will have to request a Certificate Signing Request which contains your business and website information, a private key that our servers know, and the server information. This allows for the Certificate Authority to decrypt the CSR and generate the appropriate SSL for our servers.

Secure Sockets Layer, transmits private information through the Internet (https://www.domain.com). It uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data, a Private key and Public key.

An SSL certificate contains the following information:

  • The domain name for which the certificate was issued.

  • The owner of the certificate and the domain name.

  • The physical location of the owner.

  • The validity dates of the certificate.
