The more search engines your site is found in, the more likely your site is to be found on the Internet. Also, inclusion on minor search engines also helps your ranking in larger engines which rely links back to your site to determine ranking.
You can pick and choose the engines you want to submit your site to, or you can just submit to all of them. You have the option to receive an email confirmation message of the submissions as well. Finally, when the search submission is running, you can see in real-time whether or not each submission was successful or not.
